Newcomers forcibly interrupted the longtime transmission of Indigenous languages in Canada. English transmission here is still in its infancy. I believe we can and should, collectively use the English language more wisely. No more sweeping it under the rug and beating around the bush. Now is the time for truth, reconciliation and forward thinking.
My pedagogy is inspired by local Indigenous (ie. Tsawalk) and internationally acclaimed (ie. Nonviolent Communication and the Circle of Courage) learning frameworks. My training sessions have proved worthwhile for staff teams, youth groups and adult learners. My goal is to support sure-footed walking, on common ground, together.
Hosting groups indoors is possible at my sister’s Art Gallery on the cusp of our traditional lək̓ʷəŋən territory in Victoria BC. I’m also happy to consider facilitating online, meeting where you are or taking it outside.
